Eduard Loscos

Eduard Loscos is the R&D Manager at IDP Engineering, which is set to become Bureau Veritas's Global Technical Centre for BIM and Digital Solutions in Buildings, Infrastructure, and Energy. With a strong scientific background—holding a BSc in Physics (UAB), a Master’s in Environmental Engineering, a Postgraduate degree in Quantum Engineering (UPC), and over 25 years of experience in business development—he has excelled in diverse fields, including programming, communication and design, optoelectronics, technology transfer, and the AECOO industry.

At IDP, Loscos has driven participation in over 25 Horizon EU projects, serving as coordinator for five of them, alongside numerous other competitive R&D initiatives at both international and national levels. His contributions have played a key role in shaping IDP's New Business Roadmap, including the creation of IDP Digital in 2018, a division dedicated to Building Digital Twin services. This initiative has successfully generated over €5 million in aggregate revenue. Additionally, as the coordinator of the EU project SPHERE (820805) - LC-EEB-06-2018-20, the first project focused on Digital Twin Environments for the Construction Sector, Loscos was instrumental in founding the Building Digital Twin Association (BDTA), where he currently serves as president.

In parallel, Eduard Loscos is the Convenor of Standardization Group 9 (Digital Twins in the Built Environment) within the European Technical Committee CEN TC442. In this role, he led the development and publication of the Technical Report Building Information Modelling - Digital Twins Applied to the Built Environment - Use Cases (UNE CEN/TR 18077:2024) and now oversees work on the New Work Item (NWI:00442055) for the forthcoming European Standard: Building information modelling — Digital twins applied to the built environment — Concept and definitions.
